Neville recounts a vision of a beautiful city of wide sidewalks and grand pianos where, seated at a piano, a young woman sat on his lap to make a favoured young pianist envious; he gave up the piano, the man played divinely, coloured geometrical patterns poured out of the music, Neville froze them by arresting his Imagination, then the wind possessed him and he awoke sealed in the sepulchre of his own skull.
