An Associated Negro Press dispatch datelined 15 October reports that a visiting rabbi/cantor has officiated at several synagogues during the past week and was a guest in the city; he is on a tour of the American continent. He claims to be a descendant of a group that fled in 1821. Speaking of his community he says its members range in colour 'all the way from brown to very dark', and that they practise the features of Judaism — circumcision and the kosher laws. He is reported as preferring not to be quoted on some points.
