Coney Island, the reporter says, had moved to the Armory. Among the attractions: Gangler's Circus, a performing seal, Angle Costillo with her trained lions, 'Zaza' a sensational snake in its first appearance in this country, a crystal gazer, a four-legged boy, a 'lobster boy', the smallest pony in the world, a Punch and Judy show, a Hawaiian night, a Lodge for the Blind stand, a new apple called the 'Golden Starks' handed out in samples, and a flea circus in which one flea weighing an eighth of a grain pushed a silver pinwheel studded with diamonds while others danced the black bottom. Also among the attractions, and the reason this clipping sits in the Abdullah research file: a figure in yellow and red silk turban and robes, 'supposedly a beautiful woman' — the reporter noting a growth of beard beneath it — telling fortunes.
