A friend of Neville's asked him, a few nights before this lecture, what the word 'carpenter' means. Neville answers from the biblical concordance that it means 'to produce from seed... to bring forth, to be born, to be delivered', so that the carpenter called Christ Jesus 'brought to birth' the promise of the Old Testament. He notes he had already answered this at a previous meeting the friend had missed.
