During this lecture, Neville reads aloud from a letter that arrived that same day from a woman in the audience, describing her dream: huge earth-moving machines, and a man who controlled her like a puppet through some magnetic current, while something began forming out of hot, liquid glass -- which Neville explains as the formation of her spiritual head above the neck. He also mentions a second letter, from the same correspondent's daughter and received the same day, describing a vision in which Neville's own face appeared in place of a monstrous one about to attack her, causing it to vanish.
