Neville tells his audience that in the week before this lecture he had one comforting dream after another of his late father, who appeared aware of his own death even though Neville's brothers in the dreams could not perceive him. In one dream his brother Collin, who by then employed thousands, went out in the rain to gather flying fish himself, and their father looked on with quiet pride at his son's lack of false pride.
