Neville tells his audience that Abdullah -- the teacher he says he has taught from for years since first meeting him -- appeared to him in a vision the night (or, as he says elsewhere in the same lecture, the morning) before this talk, as vividly real as anyone physically present, 'in fact, more so.' He offers the vision as living proof of testing the indwelling Christ, and reflects that even in complete union with God one never loses one's own identity.
