A letter reached Neville the Tuesday before this lecture from a woman who, realizing within a dream that she was dreaming, recalled his teaching that deliberately 'waking up' inside a dream would prove its reality to her as the dreamer. Having done so, she found herself among a group of people who identified her as a visitor from a strange land and, sensing this was becoming dangerous, used the same technique in reverse -- imagining the feel of her own bed and pillow -- to return safely to ordinary waking life.
