At least five years before his July 1959 'birth from above,' Neville was taken in vision to another world whose inhabitants -- who had not yet 'entered the shell' of a physical body -- refused to believe his accounts of life on Earth, which they regarded as death itself and called 'Woodland.' Speaking there with the philosopher Heine, he saw that they could perceive only 'stationary trees,' the undeveloped vision described in Mark 8. When the time came for his return, only one figure agreed to come down with him -- a very old woman, whom he identifies with the old woman of Blake's poem 'The Mental Traveller,' to whom the visionary child is later given.
