Across several lectures in the mid-to-late 1960s, Neville repeats that he has been teaching this principle for 'almost thirty years' or 'these thirty-odd years' from the platform, dating his start to the 1930s. He recalls that when he first began, unknown and at times destitute, he faced regular challengers in his audiences; over the following decades, he says, many who first opposed him bitterly, even violently, came around to become some of his finest students.
