Early on the Sunday morning before this lecture, Neville had a vision of himself teaching the word of God in an intimate setting, in which he twice noticed a watch — not on his wrist but lying on a table, the same watch he actually owned — reading exactly 4:10. He treats the number as scripturally symbolic: in Hebrew numerology the fourth letter (daleth, "door") and the tenth (yod, the creative hand of God, first letter of the divine name) mark 4:10 as the sign of his last watch of the night, signifying that he has reached the point of becoming "the door and the creative hand of God" and that his physical death is not far off.
