Neville describes waking on December 1st from an experience of being bodily present in San Francisco with a small group he regularly meets there, including a woman named Jo Craig. When she insisted she recognized the same body she had touched the year before, he told her this was a different "mask" and that the being she saw a year earlier he had left asleep on his bed at home in Los Angeles. He then said goodnight and vanished from the San Francisco scene, waking fully alert on his own bed in Los Angeles — offering it as evidence that the physical body is only a mask worn by the true, imagining self.
