In the first part she woke to hear herself saying, "I am just underneath, fall to me," like a father coaxing a child to jump from a tree into his arms; in the second, an otherwise unremembered dream, unseen people told her to "leave by the rear curtain." Neville reads both instructions as sound spiritual advice — to trust and fall completely into the deeper self beneath her, and to depart through the hidden curtain of scripture's Holy of Holies — likening her prompting to William Blake's own advice to him years earlier to "fall backwards" into vision.
