When Neville tried in April 1946 to arrange his return passage from Barbados in time for a scheduled 1 May lecture, the steamship agency told him that despite his brother's considerable influence in the islands, hundreds of people were ahead of him on the waiting list and the earliest available sailing would not be until the end of September — nearly five months away. Rather than accept it, he resolved on the spot, "All right, I'll get out," setting up the imaginal-act story completed in event 6841.
