Neville describes a profound meditation experience from 1936: while sitting quietly in the silence, a rock appeared before him, split apart, and reassembled itself into the form of a man seated in the lotus posture, deeply meditating. Looking closer, he realized he was watching himself meditating himself, and understood that the "Neville" who stands before an audience is only an emanation of this deeper meditating being — so that when that being fully awakens, identity will not vanish but be revealed as one's own true, eternal self.
