A woman handed Neville a letter on Friday 20 October 1967 describing what she had seen at his lecture the previous Monday, 16 October: she could not see him as Neville but as an ancient Chinese philosopher, and unlike the other faces around her, which shifted moment to moment, his stayed changed for the whole lecture. Questioning it on the way home, she recalled an earlier psychic experience in which an ancient Chinese in a white garment drew her away from a group of students to a cave, broke a cocoon on a peak of granite, and released water mixed with coloured oil as a sense of heat rose. She closed: "Now I know whose face you wore last Monday night." Neville set the letter beside Abdullah's greeting to him in 1931 - "We were together in China thousands of years ago, but you promised to completely forget."
