A friend wrote to Neville describing a vivid dream in which she attended one of his lectures held outdoors by a river, its audience made up of Catholic priests, Protestant ministers, and rabbis, all present because, as one rabbi put it, 'Neville teaches the truth.' In the same dream she held a jar containing a motionless bug that seemed asleep or dead; when she turned the jar over, the bug fell and she woke. Neville reads the reversal as symbolic of the dreamer's own spiritual awakening.
