Closing a lecture in December 1967, Neville set the coming Christmas against the place people travel to find it: "the Christmas story, which is about to take place in a matter of weeks...and people speak of going to Bethlehem and spend a fortune to go there to see the little place, and Bethlehem is in them. They will travel thousands of miles to see a little place and to find some little holy place that some cardinal marked out years ago as the holy spot. And it was never there. It never took place on this level. It took place in a remote region of our own wonderful soul, the human Imagination." In the same breath he told the room the season was ending - the lectures would close that month and reopen on 8 January, on the same schedule, and he did not feel like sending out notices.
