Neville tells how his student Benny slipped a letter under his door the night before, and that this morning, going out for his newspaper, Neville found and read it. He had earlier told Benny 'the 6th', and Benny's letter confirmed it: Benny described a vision in which he met the biblical David, who called him 'Father', then found himself fully certain he was awake and telling friends about it before realizing it had all been a dream. Neville treats this doubling of the dream, told and then re-experienced as apparently waking, as the biblical mark of a confirmed vision, citing Genesis 41's doubled dream of Pharaoh.
