In two lectures given days apart in April 1968 — one four days after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, the other on Good Friday itself — Neville anticipates the approach of Easter Sunday. He contrasts the outward three-hour Good Friday services and Easter celebrations that hundreds of millions would observe with his teaching that the true resurrection is an inward mystery, understood only by those to whom it is 'given from within,' much as Christ's parables were understood only by his inner circle.
