Neville recalls that a since-deceased family friend, Helen, once offered to get his daughter Vicki listed in New York's Social Register, an offer he declined on Vicki's behalf as too young to consent to. About a month later he mentioned the idea in passing to Cynthia, Sam's wife, who asked whether Helen might sponsor her instead. Neville called Helen, who agreed at once, and Cynthia's listing became a prized, if partly embellished, fixture of her living room.
