Neville recalls that as a boy in Barbados, unschooled and with no background, he dreamed only of coming to America. At seventeen his parents put him on a boat with $600 in his pocket, expecting he would spend the money and come home, but he stayed and made America his home. He tells the same story with the year given (1922) in a later lecture, 'Maker Maker Things'.
