Neville recalls that about five years before this lecture he was invited to a dinner party where the other guests were telling jokes. Unable to tell jokes himself, when his turn came to speak he instead told the group about God's law, prompting his host to remark that he hadn't realized they had invited a "longhair" to the party. Neville notes that the host has since died.
