Neville recalls first meeting his friend Al Olstrom, a Swede who worked for Standard Oil of California as head of personnel, in 1946, his first year coming out to lecture on the West Coast. Over the following two decades they visited each other every year, alternating between Neville's San Francisco visits and Al's home, sharing drinks and barbecues despite Al showing no real interest in Neville's teaching after his first few lectures and instead preferring to play old hymns and cry over his own version of God.
