Neville recounts a personal mystical awakening: an intense vibration at the base of his skull that he says began four years earlier, in 1959, after which he found himself waking up localized within his own skull. He links the imagery to the crucifixion and resurrection, framing the vibration and awakening as "God in the act of waking" within him, and contrasts it with his ordinary morning waking of fifty-nine years.
