Neville describes the recurring vision of water that first came to him at age seven: once a month, until he reached puberty, he would become an infinite ocean while simultaneously being a single wave tossed into the air upon its surface, an experience he found frightening as a boy. The vision then vanished at puberty, later returning transformed in his early twenties as a vision of 'living water'.
