Neville's wife told him that a visitor had recently asked one of 'the teachers in the city' what he thought of William Blake, and the teacher dismissed Blake as mad and insane. Neville uses the remark to argue that what looked like madness was in fact Blake's faithfulness to a genuine visionary sight that the world could not recognize.
