passage 552123 (nid 2039, Margaret Ruth Broome's tribute), 'One March morning in the year 1905, a man climbed the stairs...'
According to Margaret Ruth Broome's tribute to her late teacher, one March morning in 1905 an uncle climbing the stairs of a Barbados home to see his newborn nephew -- not yet named -- suddenly heard a voice say clearly, 'His name is Neville.' When he told his sister what he had heard, she agreed: they would call the boy Neville. This is a story Broome says Neville used to tell his students about himself, not his own first-person account.
