Neville tells a family story as a case study in imagination made manifest: his brother Victor imagined owning a particular business building, then was unexpectedly offered financing by a stranger who had watched him and trusted him, buying the building on signature alone with no money down, to be repaid over ten years at six percent interest. He dates the acquisition to 1922 and 1924, notes that the lender died twenty years later leaving Victor $150,000 in cash tax-free plus properties, and says that by this 1968 telling the original building (bought for $50,000 in 1924) is gone, though a bank alone paid $840,000 for the rotted-out property three years earlier and the underlying business, now spread across other islands, would be worth some $15,000,000.
