Neville tells of a friend who took on a low-ranking barber, fourth in seniority in the shop, and by picturing him in his mind's eye at the very top of his profession helped him rise to buy out the shop and become its owner. The barber went on to place first and second in a San Francisco statewide barbering contest, then imagined winning the trophy for an upcoming eleven-Western-states contest before it happened -- and duly won it, receiving a seven-foot trophy and $1,000 at a ceremony held at the Biltmore.
