In 'The Nature of God', delivered on Yom Kippur itself, Neville tells his congregation that the Day of Atonement has just ended at sundown with a psalm sung in every synagogue, and uses the day to illustrate the eternal state he calls Saul awakening into Christ. In a separate lecture, 'Binding and Loosing', he contrasts the literal Yom Kippur belief that a living being must be sacrificed for atonement with his own psychological reading, in which sin is simply 'missing the mark' and atonement happens inwardly, without any blood offering.
