About fifteen lectures (1063, 1087, 1120, 1124, 1226, 1345, 1487, 1493, 1750, 1824, 1886, 1909, 1916, 1989, 2130), taken from Acts 9, where Saul goes out to find anyone of The Way, whether male or female, and bring them bound to Jerusalem. The word Christianity was not in existence; the earliest name given to the earliest Christians was the people of the Way, and Neville reads that as a description of what they believed rather than of who they were: those who believed in a certain way of salvation. Hence his insistence that Christ names a method and not a person - it is a way of salvation, not a being outside of yourself who saves. At 1345 he adds the uncomfortable fact that goes with it: the only Bible the early Christians had was the Old Testament, and those who wrote the New were Jews. At 1824 he draws the consequence the phrase was built for, and it is addressed to the room. Read on the surface, no woman was made a disciple; but Acts 9 says whether they be male or female, so anyone, regardless of sex, who accepts this way of life is a disciple - don't think that the disciples from Peter down to Judas are the twelve. That matters because the commission to forgive sins was given to disciples, so it has just been handed to everyone listening. What a responsibility.
