Watch without condemning one's own reactions to life: they reveal the being one is and the present condition of one's earth. One does not condemn what is found but starts to subdue it; and one's reactions after an assumption show whether one has really changed. (1953, in the idiom of Ouspensky's and Nicoll's self-observation.)
