Whenever the action of the inner man corresponds to the action the outer man would have to take to appease his desire, that desire must be realised: construct the act the outer self would perform if the wish were fulfilled (walking up the gangplank, riding in the car) and let the inner self perform it until it feels real; the outer man is then compelled to duplicate it.
