Case story from San Francisco (c. 1952): a blind woman, whose rerouted buses had turned a fifteen-minute trip into two and a half hours, sat in her living room and imagined herself on the front seat of a car beside a man, smelling the gasoline, feeling it stop and start, thanking him ('Thank you very much, sir') and hearing 'The pleasure is all mine'. After two nights a newspaper article led to a letter; a stranger in a bar offered to drive her to work and the man she wrote to drove her home. On the first morning the driver answered her thanks with the very words she had imagined. Told in Awakened Imagination.
