Psychological interpretation

John 1:1 read of the creative power of speech: with the gifts of mind and speech man creates the conditions of his life; the Word, said Hermes, is Son and Mind is Father of the Word, so that to be transformed in mind is to be transformed in conversation. With 2 Samuel 23:2 ('his Word was in my tongue'), Hebrews 11:3 ('the worlds were framed by the word of God') and Matthew 4:4 ('every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God'), the mouth of God is the mind of man. Later lectures give the Word other readings.
