Isaiah 49:5, with Amos 9:9 ('I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth'): Israel is scattered through all the nations of the mind, not on the earth. The thing one wants is a piece of Israel, seen in the mind's eye, and man's purpose as servant is to bring it (Jacob, the smooth-skinned subjective state), clothed with the tones of reality, to the Lord, his own consciousness.
