I looked upon this world…and I stopped it. Everything froze, as though they were all made of clay; then I started it, and it moved on. I stopped it, and it stopped. I discovered then, not a thing in this world was independent of my perception of it.

I know that when I freeze an activity within me, it freezes outwardly, and when I started it again within me, it started.

So I was used as the guinea pig by someone who was being introduced to this power in himself, just as I, years later, used others as a guinea pig when I was being introduced to that same power.

I would walk up Broadway, and all of a sudden I knew that someone was arresting me, and I couldn’t walk. I would stop in the street, and I couldn’t put one foot in front of the other.

And so the birds couldn’t fly, the leaves couldn’t fall, and the grass that was moving in the wind couldn’t move; and people walking couldn’t walk, and the diners dining couldn’t dine, and everything was frozen.

They all were at dinner. Dinner was being served. Birds were flying. Leaves were falling. Everything was in action, and it seemed completely independent of my perception.

So I arrested the activity and it froze. The whole vast scene; it was arrested. And through the window, a huge big black tree, a tree—the leaves were falling, they couldn’t fall, and they were arrested in space.

The bird didn’t fall out of the tree, which caused me after the experience to question seriously man’s concept of gravitation.

I see it, and come upon it, but the whole thing is dead. Frozen. Then I start an activity within me and then the world that was dead becomes alive

I have seen the whole world dead, completely frozen, and then I allowed something within me to start and everything became animated.

you will see leaves in mid-air not falling, and people moving in space will cease to move but will not fall, for as you stopped the action within yourself the whole thing stopped

he went in search of a midwife for his Hebrew wife, and as he started, he looked up, and the heavens stood still, and the birds of the air stood still, and the shepherds walking, walked not

I had the experience of having the sea stand still, because I arrested in my head an activity which animated it, and when I released that activity, the things moved on.

I assure you, the whole vast world, if you could arrest your power now, would stand still, absolutely still.

something in the depths of my soul knew that if I could arrest in me an activity, that I felt everything would freeze

I knew that they had no life within themselves, that the life was in me, so I arrested that life in me, and they were dead
