The cry from the cross (Matthew 27:46, Psalm 22:1) read as complete self-abandonment: God so wholly forgot his divinity in becoming man that he cries out to a god other than himself, and man in turn must yield to his dream with nothing held back, keeping no last card to play, before it becomes flesh.
