Beyond the seven there is an eighth eye, only implied in scripture and veiled: Blake's 'He did not come. He hid in Albion's forest' - the dark convolutions of the brain, Albion being Blake's name for universal man. It does not open by the process of time, and breathing, diets and Yoga exercises will not bring it out; it opens only when the seventh eye, the eye of Jesus, is perfectly clarified. Then something stirs like a chick trying to get out of an egg, pecking its way through Golgotha, the skull, which is held by five nails, the five senses; man tears loose, and the eighth eye sees concrete reality and the perfect world for the first time, after which he blames no one and forgives everyone. This is the true circumcision, performed on the eighth day: the unveiling not of the physical organ but of the organ of creation, man's imagination - and its opening is the second coming of Jesus.
