Matthew 5 used to forbid ranking men: let no one tell you that this person is better than that one, for the sun shines on the just and the unjust. If you salute only your brother, if you love only those who love you, how are you better than another? You are doing nothing that all do not do. Only awakening matters, and a man's stage of awakening is not read off his pigment, his race or his background.
