Herod is compounded of two words, one meaning hero and the other, edeos, a thing fashioned or formed; and the thing formed has to die, because the being one really is, is God, which is spirit, without form or figure. The child was taken into Egypt to escape Herod and comes out of hiding when Herod dies - but Herod's son Archelaus, whose name means mighty political power, now reigns in his place, and a man may still sell himself to an ism or an organisation for profit or the acclaim of men. So the child is taken to Nazareth.
