Ecclesiastes 3:15, and the lecture turns on refusing the rational reading of it. The man of reason can justify the verse by recurrence - the sun returns, the moon completes its cycle, the scientists can compute when the universe comes back to this point in the picture - but that is not what is meant, because the verse is addressed to imagination, not to the man of sense or of reason. Generic man, male-female, was made in God's image and then driven out - not out in space, out in mind - and what God now seeks is that one. He prepared the way for his banished ones to return, and the states of this world are the fixed labyrinthine ways prepared for the return of his Son. He is seeking Jacob in the Old Testament and Jesus in the New, and when he finds him, he is Jesus; and he will find him in every being in the world.
