Told of himself, and said without pride: the angels rejoiced over the woman's awakening, and they rejoiced also because he kept his promise that he would come and awaken this sleeper in the world of men. He too had to forget everything to become man - when one goes and then returns, he has to forget everything - but he promises before he goes that he will carry out his pledge and help man awaken. So the forgetting is total and the pledge survives it.
