Thirty is fullness, so the thirty pieces of silver are the whole price of God: no one playing Judas may skip a single furnace. He then throws the money back to the priests, who buy the potter's field - but the Hebrew word rendered 'potter' appears sixty-two times as 'maker' and only a few times as 'potter', and it means a craftsman, a goldsmith or a silversmith. Neville says the money should have gone to the silversmith, not the potter: the point of the word is that the individual is a maker.
