Against the evolution the world has accepted: all things were distinct acts of creation, called good and wondrous, and man did not come up through the animals. What evolves is not the creature but the form of men's affairs - the canoe to the ocean liner, the plow to the tractor, the cave to the palace. The bird builds its nest as it first built it, fixed and perfect; everything below man only bears witness to what I AM. And the body is not the man either: it is the mask, the persona, worn until every part has been played.
