The temple rent from top to bottom at the crucifixion is read as the body itself, so the tearing of the veil is an event in the man and not in a building in Jerusalem; he cites the Book of Hebrews as identifying the spiritual body with the curtain of the temple, and what follows the tearing is entry into the Holy of Holies forever, with no intermediary thereafter. THE TELLING (from 1085, the fullest the chronological read has reached, and the reason this description was rewritten): when the temple has been torn from top to bottom you look, and you see molten gold, glowing, liquid gold, and you know that it is yourself. Neville puts Blake's words into the seer's mouth at that moment - I behold the vision of my deadly sleep of six thousand years, circling around thy skirts like a serpent of precious stones and gold - and then the recognition that follows it: I know it is myself, O my Divine Creator and Redeemer. Then, as that molten gold, up you go like a serpent, fulfilling John 3:14 - as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up. He presses the property of the metal: gold is an incorruptible element and cannot corrode, not in eternity, and this gold is only the symbol of the true spiritual gold that you are, which is why Paul can call the body you will wear imperishable, incorruptible and immortal.
