Neville's answer to anyone who treats the two testaments as two religions, and the reason he hyphenates Judeo-Christian. It is one tree: the tree is Judaism, the fruit is Christianity, and Christianity is simply the fulfilment of Judaism. Nothing is discarded in the fulfilment - Judaism is the foundation, and there is the law; but the rock has to be turned into water. He gives the two scriptural pictures of that turning together: Jacob comes into the field and the flock must be watered, so he rolls the stone away first - the literal observation of the outer things of life - and from the well draws water; and when the same story returns in the New Testament as the first miracle in John, the stone jars are filled with water and what is drawn out is wine. The same story told psychologically. He insists the claim is not scholarship: he is not the scholar who combed scripture with Greek and Latin and Aramaic to produce a theory, it happened to him, it was all revelation - and revealed truth cannot be legally or logically proven, so let the scholars go on, and until it is revealed to them they do not know it.
