Neville's rule for anyone asked to work for another, and his objection to the profession as it was practised around him. People call wanting a result produced while they are left exactly as they are - the tenants three months in arrears, and the caller as bitter after as before - as though a button could be pushed. He says the purpose is to produce a change in the individual, not in the circumstances round about, where it vanishes like snow when the sun comes out; a change in the person sustains the change when it externalises. The test is whether the calls stop: that call will come day after day, week after week, year after year until you produce a change in the caller's own heart, and when you do, they need never call you again. He attaches a second rule to it about money, told from a recent case: three teachers from different groups had told a woman with no money that she would have to depend on them forever to produce these things for her, and she was sending each of them a monthly sum. His own standing instruction to her was don't send me one penny, don't send me a nickel - I want to produce in you the change. And the reason he can say it is the doctrine itself: no one is your source of supply, your own consciousness of wealth will produce wealth, and the only God is her own wonderful I-am-ness.
