Prophecy Astrology Chart They Will Tell Work That Did
Editor’s Note: A question about astrology comes up from time to time from students of Neville. On one hand, Neville in quite a few lectures dismisses astrology as “monkey bones,” “abracadabra,” and a crutch for those who haven’t found the power within.n2213 ¶1
Then on the other hand, he spoke of the “Strange Lady” and the “Prophet Jordan” who foretold his destiny. So, did he believe in the stars or not? Even though Neville was once an astrologer, he rejected astrology as a cause (the idea that a planet dictates your bank account or your marriage), the old adage “Astra inclinant, sed non obligant” (The stars incline us, they do not bind us), but he accepted true prophecy as a witness to the “finished play”. He proved the former was a placebo with his famous “Norma” story, demonstrating that her belief worked even when the chart was mathematically wrong. He never denied that one can look past the veil of Caesar’s world and see the script God had already written. … Neville mentioned that he was once an astrologer, even taught a woman, Norma astrology at one point, and dropped it all after understanding The Law and The Promise.n2213 ¶2
But there are also some mentions in his lectures of various prophecies about his life and he often mentions we are in a marvelous play of repeating roles with “no remembrance of former things. We have a little memory . . no remembrance of former things; nor shall there be any remembrance of things that will come later” Some lectures mentioning astrology: From “I Remember When” In the 12th chapter of the Book of Numbers, we are told: “If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision and I will speak with him in a dream. A scriptural prophet is not one who tells your fortune, but one who hears the Word of God and fulfills it. If you asked me if I were a prophet I would answer in the affirmative. I am not one who prophesies by looking into a crystal ball, teacup leaves, cards, or astrology, but one who has fulfilled scripture. I know I am the central figure of scripture called “the Father. I came into the world to fulfill scripture and share my revelations, my experiences concerning the power to create. In this simple way God revealed his power to create, his power to remember when!n2213 ¶3
Having nothing, you can become aware of being surrounded by wealth, and feeling wealthy you can say: “I remember when I had nothing. Does that statement not imply that the state of poverty no longer exists for you? I remember when I was unknown. I remember when I couldn’t sell a book. I remember when I couldn’t sell anything I wrote.n2213 ¶4
I remember when. Now you fill in the events, the desires and the fulfillments. I remember when. Do not those words imply memory? From “Pre-Existence” (1969) So, you are playing a part, and you are allowed to interpret the part; but you came in on cue and you will depart on cue; and in spite of what our wise men called doctors today are telling us that they can prolong life . . they are not prolonging life . . you were born on time, as told you in the 3rd chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes: “A time to be born, a time to die; a time to laugh, a time to cry;”… There is not a thing new under the sun.n2213 ¶5
The play is finished. It is being said about the landing on the moon: “See? This has never happened before. It has been in ages past, but there is no remembrance of former things. We have a little memory . . no remembrance of former things; nor shall there be any remembrance of things that will come later among those who come after.n2213 ¶6
We think it is all now, like a play. You go to a play tonight. I saw a play last night.n2213 ¶7
But to you, these are all new, and you’ll laugh tonight, as I did the night before. And you’ll cry, as I cried the night before. And you will think it is all new as the whole thing unfolds before your eyes; and I saw it the night before.n2213 ¶8
And this is a marvelous “play” in which we are cast for a purpose. There is a purpose behind the entire thing. So, we are not little beings that began. I began humanly almost 65 years ago? No, . . I came out from the Father, and the Father has no beginning . . no father, no mother, no genealogy. He is without gender, without number. I came out from that Source that has no origin. It is the Origin of all!n2213 ¶9
And I came into a world that seems to begin and end. That is how God expands Himself. He takes upon Himself the limit of contraction . . the limit of opacity; that, having reached the limit, He can again begin to expand. There is no limit to expansion, and no limit to translucency. So, He sends part of Himself off to go beyond what He was only by first reaching the limit of contraction. And that is how God is perpetually expanding Himself.n2213 ¶10
And we are the “sons of God. But it takes all the “sons” to make God!n2213 ¶11
From “No Other Foundation” By this time I had outgrown my belief in monkey bones, astrology, teacup leaves, numerology, or anything outside of my own wonderful human imagination; for having tested myself, I knew that all things were possible to the imagination. -“No Other Foundation” From “The True Vine”: Here we are being told to abstain from any food for thought other than our own wonderful human imagination. We are urged to feast upon our own power and wisdom. Abstain when others urge you to try a little numerology, a little astrology, or any belief of a power outside of your Self. One of the great weaknesses of man is the necessity of always being right. Those who prophesied that California would experience an earthquake which would kill millions, will pray until they break their skull to prove the rightness of their prophecy; but it hasn’t a thing to do with scripture. The earthquake spoken of in scripture takes place within, and not on the outside, at all. – “The True Vine” Taught Norma Astrology From “Your Future” (1966) Your future is really in your hands here in the world of Caesar. But because you don’t use it lovingly…I could never tell you how long, how vast, how severe the anguish before you are brought forth from the furnaces. For you aren’t going to be brought forth from the furnaces and enter the world called “the kingdom of God” until you are perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. So do unto others as you would have them do unto you, that’s the eternal code. And never accept a feeling of getting even or hurting unless you want the same thing done to you. So I tell you, the story is true. Whatever, as vast as eternity, you ask in prayer—remember what prayer is, motion towards the fulfillment of the wish fulfilled, that’s motion towards…all in your Imagination. You will receive it, that’s a promise, if you have faith. So take tonight’s definition of faith, which I’ll give you, which is “a simple, simple surrender of self to the Spirit of God. You put yourself in the state and sleep, you surrender your Spirit: “Into thy hands I commit my Spirit. After having occupied the state, simply relax in that state and God sees the state you’re in, and that’s like a ___(?) and the whole vast world responds to what you have done.n2213 ¶12
You don’t have to ask them anything. Mrs. Roosevelt didn’t go out and come up to a person saying “You’ve always over the years rented my place, what’s wrong? She didn’t complain.n2213 ¶13
She simply went home, she believed what I told here, and she applied it. The very next day it’s rented and she has her check for months in advance. With that she could open her place and have a wonderful, wonderful summer.n2213 ¶14
So let no one put any wet blanket upon you by telling you that the future is already written for you and it’s in the stars. Those wonderful words of Cassius to Brutus, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in the stars but in ourselves that we are underlings. Not in the stars! Look there if you want to, but you won’t find them there at all. I’ll tell you a story concerning one who is now gone from this world. Last fall in New York City, I learned that she had just recently before my arrival made her exit.n2213 ¶15
She was a teacher in a high school in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She came to New York City, she was a widow, she had a widow’s pension from the railway—she could always travel on the railway without paying anything—but she wanted to live in New York City. She had a nice pension from the school and from the railway; it was adequate, not big. She wanted to do something in the City.n2213 ¶16
Well, my old friend Abdullah…I took her to Abdullah…and she couldn’t quite get the feeling of what Abdullah was trying to get over, but she could believe in astrology. Well, I think I know how to erect a chart and regress a chart, and so I taught her. I told her, it isn’t there at all, it’s all in you; but if it takes you to persuade you of something nice to tell someone, then use it. But, eventually, you’ll take it like a crutch and throw it away. Well, one day I called on her and she was in tears, actual tears.n2213 ¶17
I said, Norma, what’s wrong? She said, “A man came in here, very highly recommended, a good business man, successful, and I read his chart. I told him that he will send me the $100 he promised me he would. In fact, I’m so convinced that it’s true, I said to him, “Don’t wait, give it to me now! He said, “No, if it works today as you tell me, well, then I will send you the money.n2213 ¶18
I said, well, what’s wrong with that, Norma? She said, “The chart wasn’t his chart.n2213 ¶19
I was sitting at the open window and the wind blew over the Ephemerides. They were bound…she had about 100 years of these all bound in one volume, and while sitting at a window she was distracted and she came back, not checking, and drew a chart from what she saw there, not knowing the wind had turned over the pages and she’s now drawing a chart of one who wasn’t born until ten years later. But she said, “Neville, I drew a chart of a man who was ten years not yet in this world.n2213 ¶20
And what’s wrong with that? Did you convince him? She said, “I think I did, for I said in all seriousness give me the $100 now. If you’re going to send it to me after it works, give it to me now. That seemed to convince him all the more, Neville. I said, it’s done! Forget it!n2213 ¶21
She still couldn’t stop her tears. That night after dinner I called on her again. I was in her suite of rooms at this Knott (? Hotel, at 72nd and Broadway—it’s gone now, of the old Knott chain—when the doorbell rang, it’s a messenger from Western Union. It’s a hundred dollar check, a Western Union check. And she drew a chart of a man who wasn’t born! But she was convinced when she spoke to him—and he didn’t see her tears and our conversation didn’t hear that—so he went away convinced of the reality of her abracadabra. He’s a big business man. You see, it comes in all walks of life. They tell me that Hitler wouldn’t make a move without consulting his astrologer…so they tell me. Where did it get him? Where did it get him finally? And so all this business of something on the outside…she got that $100 and I was in her room when that Western Union boy delivered that Western Union check.n2213 ¶22
From “Awake O Sleeper” 1968: Question: What about prophecy? Answer: Prophecy? As far as I am concerned, prophecy is over – true prophecy. Fortunetelling, I do not go in for it teacup leaves and cards, astrology – all that is simply – well, abracadabra. But if one believes it, it will come to pass, because you’re working on the Law of Belief. But when it comes to prophecy, prophecy is over. The Bible, the entire Old Testament is one of prophecy, and the one in the New is the one who came to prepare the way – John the Baptist. That is the end of the prophecy.n2213 ¶23
Now it’s fulfillment. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, and now is the time of fulfillment of the Kingdom. We’re entering the Kingdom – all of us, because the whole thing is over and has been proven true. The first to rise from the dead opened up the door, and all are rising into the Kingdom, clothed in bodies of glory.n2213 ¶24
No more prophecy. But if someone wants to sit down and read you the cards, be amused, but the chances are they are always so negative. They sit down and tell you the strangest things, and you are all carried away emotionally, and you are planted. Right there, you are planting. And then you will say, “How wise they were! It came to pass. Because it’s going to come to pass, if you accept it and give credence to the thing, it will come to pass. Question: What about someone like Jean Dixon? Answer: They never tell you when they fail. They will always tell – if I prophesy a thousand things, I’ve got to get one. If I take all the nominees now, and I tell each, “You are going to get it” – well, there are only about five or four. I will omit the last three, the Communist fellows – they haven’t any chance. So, I won’t tell them, but I will tell the other parties – the three parties – each, “You are going to get it. Well, I will guess one out of the three anyway; that’s a good mark. So, you can’t fail. If I get one out of three, that’s a tremendous percentage.n2213 ¶25
So, tell them all. That’s what the world does. So she comes out, and what she said to one person she publicized because it came to pass, but she would not tell you all the others that did not.n2213 ¶26
Question: [Inaudible on tape] Answer: Well, my dear, always do everything in the present, as though you had it. Always go to the end, as though you had it. The end is where I start from. The minute you say, “Yes, but –”, then you don’t believe it. You say, you need the money now. Well, I say, “Assume that you have it now. “Ah, but –” “Well, then, you haven’t assumed it at all! Walk through the door just as though you had it. You might stumble on it out there. Walk as though you had it. Live in the assumption of the wish fulfilled. Live in it as though it were true.n2213 ¶27
From “Fundamental Revelation: Jesus Christ In Us” When you hear people who are supposed to be teachers, as I heard today, someone called long distance from New York City, and then they told me about some kind of wedding that some astrologer saw, and I wondered, “What have I been doing all these years? I’ve been talking and talking and talking and I wondered, “Who is hearing me? Just what am I saying that is ever heard…to what extent is it ever heard? What degree am I getting over? Here is one…she called twice in the course of four hours. The first call was for some distress about a nephew, and four hours later she called to say she got him out of jail…that it happened.n2213 ¶28
I only heard what she asked me to hear. And so what he did? I didn’t ask what he did, I don’t know what he did, but she got him out.n2213 ¶29
And then all this nonsense concerning marriage all based upon astrology. People read this nonsense. In the morning’s paper, men who are really in big business and you wonder, my Lord, you better take your money out of that stock. They won’t leave the house until they find out what their little sign is going to do today. Don’t think for one moment it isn’t so, they do it. And the only one who makes any money out if it is the one who writes it. Oh, he fattens himself out of writing this drivel.n2213 ¶30
But you can’t break these little superstitions over night; it takes time to dislodge it, and tell you that your true identity is Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ is my true identity, then I’m suffering from amnesia and then the whole story is remembered! So the last chapter of Ecclesiastes begins, “Remember, remember your Creator in the days of your youth” (12:1)…the whole thing is appealing to man to try to remember.n2213 ¶31
From “The Name of God” The Bible, on the other hand, is not taught any more, because it’s vision, pure vision, and they’re trying to make it conform to evolution, make it conform to history. It’s not history. It’s not secular history; it’s sacred history. They’re trying to make it conform to cosmology, to astrology, to astronomy. It isn’t that at all. Hasn’t a thing to do with that. It’s all the vision of God revealed through his appointed servants, his plan, his purpose. And the day will come that you and I, as I’m looking at you now, you and I will not be two, we’ll be one.n2213 ¶32
Every garment you have played, may I tell you, I have played. And the garments that you will play I have already played, for I have reached the state of being Father. I have played every part in this world.n2213 ¶33
Goodnight. Neville’s Astrology Chart From “The Divine Body” But when I was born in 1905 my mother, so she told me years later . . she said, “The church bells were ringing when I felt labor. You came at 9:15 on Sunday night in 1905 the 19th of February. And before you were born, I knew a bit of your destiny.n2213 ¶34
I knew what you were going to do; only I interpreted it as a minister. I knew in some strange way you were sent to do the work of God, but I thought that you would be a minister in the Episcopal Church,” which we then called the Church of England.n2213 ¶35
Well, I never became that, not in her eyes. In her eyes, I hadn’t yet accomplished what she felt inwardly that I came to do.n2213 ¶36
I was three weeks old when she was walking the floor with the little child in her arms, and she said to me . . the babe, “What should I call you? And she said, “I heard a voice, and the voice said, “His name is Neville,” Then she said, “I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and I thought it was your father. My father’s name was Joseph, and she said, “Joseph, is that you?” and the voice replied, “No, it is I, Rollo. That was her brother, her younger brother, who lived with us. And he said to her, “What are you doing up so late?” and she said, “Well, I am waiting to name this boy. What name should I call him? And she told me that Rollo closed his eyes as though he listened, and then he said to her, “Call him Neville. Then she said, “I went cold, and felt as if I dropped and the world came to an end . . your name was Neville,” so she called me Neville.n2213 ¶37
And, then, when I was a boy of about seven, a very strange lady from England, who was out on some pension, lived in Barbados . . lived back in a wild, wild area where everything is balanced by the sea. All trees are bent by the sea winds as they come forward. And I sat with her one day, and she said, “You are going to leave Barbados, and you are not going to return, save to visit.n2213 ¶38
You are going to be the first one of your family to get married, and you are going to have two children. You will be married more than once, and you will have two children. Then she said, “You know, you are going to talk to unnumbered people, and you will be selling something. I don’t know what it is, but you will be selling something. But centuries and centuries after you are gone, they will use your name and link it with two others who did similar work. She said, “Your name and two others. She didn’t tell me whether they preceded me, whether they would be contemporary, or if they would follow. But she told me that unnumbered years after I am gone and future generations were gone . . centuries afterward, “They will tell of the work that Neville did. And I know I was in the presence of the Risen Lord. He sent me to do exactly what I am doing, and to tell my own personal experiences concerning God’s work. From “Purpose Revealed” (1971) NEVILLE: That was a colored man in Barbados. His name was Jordan. I was a boy. Of course, I didn’t know the story until I was in my 20’s. It was never told me. But I am one of nine brothers and one sister.n2213 ¶39
My brother Victor met the prophet Jordan. He was known as “the prophet. He was light-skinned; he was a mulatto, and everyone looked upon him as one who really had the prophetic vision. And he met my brother Vic, and he said to Vic, “What number are you in the Goddard family?n2213 ¶40
Vic said, “I am the second. He said, “Now, what do you want to be? He said, “I want to be a businessman. He said to my brother Victor, “You are going to be a very, very successful businessman. Now he said, “What does the third one want to be? That was my brother Lawrence. He said, “He wants to be a doctor. He said, “He will be a very good, successful doctor. But,” he said, “don’t touch the fourth one.n2213 ¶41
He belongs to God. The Lord has sent him to do a definite work; so don’t touch him. You can’t persuade him to do anything outside of that work that God sent him to do. So, I happen to be the fourth one.n2213 ¶42
Now that is what my brother Victor told me when I went back after I was gone for twelve years.n2213 ¶43
